It was all
a dream.
Vick, is driven by an inherent need to nurture and a belief system that revolves around disability justice. This led her to choose plants as a medium to express these aspects. Plants have always been a significant part of her family’s expressions of love. The gifts they exchanged often took the form of freshly cut herbs, which were served with dinner, or seedlings in nursery pots that would continue to grow and give for years to come.
Vick has observed that the inaccessibility of certain things often go unnoticed until they pose a challenge. As she matured, she realized how inaccessible plants can become when one is sick, disabled, or in pain. Despite these challenges, her mother consistently tended to the garden and her grandmother continued to meticulously pick through the herbs, even as her strength waned. They did this out of love, even when it was difficult. This inspired Vick to delve deeper into the world of plants with the aim of making this beloved hobby more accessible for them.
As a disabled individual who was raised and inspired by other disabled people, Vick’s objective is to ensure that each plant and product is designed with accessibility in mind. She believes that plants, from their cost to their care, should be a source of joy rather than stress. Vick hopes that others can feel the love that has been infused into each plant. She also hopes that these plants can serve as a reminder that each individual is cared for and loved.
